Black Cowboys

I think it is a lot easier to imagine black cowboys when you stop thinking about the stereotypical definition of a cowboy and start thinking about the literal definition.

Comments:
yeah, renata me too. its kinda hard to imagine a chinese cowboy though

I dont know why i never thought about it, but it makes sense that the freed slaves would move west to become cowboys. Im surprised that i hadn't heard anything about this until now

It is really bad if you look at how many cowboy/western movies have been made in Hollywood and not one has a black cowboy as a star or even sidekick. I never even thought about a black man being a cowboy until I read the paper.

Its probably just like all of you say. The directors in Hollywood cant imagine a black cowboy either and if their going to be making a blockbuster thats going to sell them millions of dollars their going to show what the majority (and they) imagines.
This leads to the other possiblity in that there could just be no famous westerns with negro cowboys in them. Or that yes the directors just didnt do their homework or werent looking for the fact that there had been black cowboys.

Everything you always wanted to know about Chinese cowboys, but were afraid to ask:
